# Scrib

> Free, AES-256 encrypted notes app for Android. All notes stay on-device — no cloud, no account, no tracking, no analytics. Built by Beeswax Pat, an independent developer and U.S. Army veteran.

Scrib encrypts every note with AES-256 using keys stored in the Android Keystore. It ships with a PIN-locked Private Vault, 16 note colors, voice input, full TalkBack accessibility, and export-to-TXT. No network permissions. The companion **Scrib Desktop** is a Flutter-based Windows text editor (open source, GPL-3.0).

This site is a single-page landing plus a blog that rigorously audits the privacy of popular notes apps (Google Keep, Samsung Notes, etc.) and compares them to encrypted alternatives.

## Philosophy
The blog takes a consistent editorial stance: encryption at rest is not the same as end-to-end encryption, and cloud-synced notes without E2EE are not private from the vendor. Reviews are honest about trade-offs (no cross-device sync is Scrib's cost) rather than marketing-flavored.
